é Prague - the capital of the Czech Republic is known as the city of a hundred spires. In fact there are many more, in all styles, and one is more beautiful than the other.

é Prague's bridges are of stone or of iron and concrete, they are old and new, but always they form a charming bond linking the two banks of the river Vltava.

é The cathedral of St. Vitus was founded on the site of a Romanesque rotunda in 1344 by John of Luxemburd and his sons. The golden gate on the southern side of the cathedral is decorated with a mosaic (1370-71) of the Day of Judgement. The window in the archbishop's chapel is by Alfons Mucha in late Art Nouveau style and shows scenes from the lives of SS. Cyril and Methodius.

é The western front of the cathedral of St. Vitus is neo-Gothic, built in the second half of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th. The towers are 82 meters high, the big rose window is 10,4 meters in diameter and portrays the Creation of the World. é The Interior of the Cathedral of St. Vitus.

é The chapel of St. Wenceslas is the most precious place in the cathedral. It was built in 1344-64 by Matthias of Arras and Petr Parléø. The stone tomb contains the relics of St. Wenceslas - prince and patron saint of the Czech Lands. The chapel walls are faced with semiprecious stones and decorated with murals (cycles of the Passion and the legend of St. Wenceslas).
